Beginning in October 2009, Edexcel’s moderators and SSAT’s Lead Practitioners will work together to deliver events across the country. For a one-off subscription fee of £75 you will be able to join your peers at the following network events to discuss teaching, learning and assessment, and share best practice.
EVENT 1
October/November 2009
Introduction to Delivery and Assessment

This event is designed to provide you with:
• A thorough understanding of the different controlled speaking (oral) assessment tasks and their requirements
• Opportunities to reflect on content, pathways and different delivery approaches
• Advice on planning for teaching and assessment

EVENT 2
January 2010
Focus on Teaching and Learning

This event will concentrate on:
• Preparing students to respond to and manipulate the spoken target language effectively
• Different teaching strategies to ensure that all students develop a range of speaking (oral) skills
• Ensuring student focused assessment (task design, adaptation and students understanding of mark grids)
• Integrating assessment into ongoing teaching and learning

EVENT 3
February/March 2010
Focus on Assessment and Standardisation

This event will concentrate on:
• The importance and management of internal standardisation
• Understanding and interpreting the assessment criteria correctly
• Marking confidently within tolerance
