Free training - Local Support Groups

LSGs are free twilight sessions, formerly funded by the national languages organisation, CILT but now run and funded by the HIAS languages team. There are two such groups in Hampshire, one near Church Crookham and the other a roaming group, both of which meet approx 5 times a year and run sessions on topics as varied as using storybooks in primary language classes to phonics to hands-on animation workshops. They are led by local teachers and sometimes national speakers. Please click here for more details.

Language Caféspeople_6.gif

These are informal groups of teachers and like-minded individuals who meet up informally in cafes to improve their own language skills. Louise Pagden set up several groups as part of a University of Southampton initiative, but they are now self sufficient. A good place to meet like-minded teachers without the commitment of an evening course. Click the link for details of the next meetings.
