The Links into Languages LinkedUp Award Scheme has produced a series of free resources for teachers of primary, secondary, and post-16 languages. From CLIL to transition and from alternative accreditation to progression, these materials have been created and tested by groups of practising teachers and others working with languages. The LinkedUp Award Scheme aims to tackle the challenges we are facing and make a difference to teachers and learners, with the emphasis on innovation and creativity. Funded projects cover all ages from 4 to 19, a wide range of different languages and ten themes which reflect national priorities for language learning. Find out more about the Award Scheme.

Curriculum Models for Primary Languages

The curriculum models for primary languages web pages are now live and have been designed for school leaders, curriculum co-ordinators and LA advisers, seeking to ensure primary languages are included as part of a coherent KS2 curriculum.
The site explores ways of introducing languages and examines alternative ways of organising languages in the curriculum. Discover a large case study section, illustrating advantages of successful models, examples of how to develop intercultural understanding & community cohesion and ensure high quality teaching, learning & sustainability.

Originally commissioned to support the introduction of Statutory languages in KS2, it has now been adapted to support schools in the current situation, while the Curriculum Review takes its course. We believe that it will still prove useful, and look forward to any comments you may have.
